Shap is a traditional market village located in the district of Cumbria, approximately 10
miles to the south of Penrith and 15 miles north of Kendal. Carlisle is also within easy
commuting distance along the A6 road link and the M6 motorway, 29 miles to the north.

Shap is traditionally linear in shape, following the route of the A6 road link, with
