There are many short and long term reasons for renting land, not all of which require development or additional facilities. Once out of fashion, the allotment, a small, rented plot for growing flowers, fruit or vegetables, is now in great demand thanks to a renewed interest in self-sufficiency and organic gardening. On a larger scale, professional nurseries and Christmas tree farms require land for raising plants. Land used for campsites and car parks, either as a long term facility or a temporary one for the duration of a festival or other event, needs little alteration, while land used for sports like golf or horse riding will require some landscaping.
