High street retail properties are the traditional homes of retai storesl. Once the only option for day to day shopping, which could be a time-consuming business, the town centre saw sales drop off with the introduction of out of town supermarkets, then shopping malls and retail parks. Now, regeneration schemes, pedestrianised areas and free parking are bringing consumers back to the high street. Small, independent shops offering handmade goods or local foods and ingredients flourish here, as well as luxury brands and specialist shops, and there will always be a niche for the convenience store selling those essential items missed off the list at the supermarket. An enticing window display is perhaps more important here than in any other retail sector.
