Other types of industrial space include premises designed for specialist production, like foundries, distilleries and power stations, or for disposal, for example recycling centres and sewage works. Power stations and oil rigs will usually be acquired as a complete business, retaining staff and equipment. Generation from alternative power sources, such as wind and water, is increasing in popularity in Canada. Mills, breweries and other older industrial buildings may be used for their original purpose, but these days are more often reinvented as offices, housing, hotels or pubs. Former factories, with their high windows and spacious floors, may become artists' studios or galleries.
