What Makes Us Truly Unique?

As the fastest-growing bakery concept in Canada, COBS Bread is the ideal entry point into this highly profitable sector, with the national bakery product market expected to grow by 3.5% until 2026.

Our goal is to open more than 20 bakeries every year. It’s ambitious but possible through our robust business model that consistently delivers exceptional products, friendly service, and a welcoming atmosphere that keeps bringing customers back for more.

It’s also a goal backed by our history. Our brand has experienced an incredible growth trajectory, even through tough economic times.

Benefits of the COBS Bread Brand

As a franchise partner, you’ll find yourself leveraging our multi-million-dollar marketing fund, and you’ll be able to rely on our expert in-house bakers to provide everything you need for success.

Our achievements speak for themselves: COBS Bread has held the CFA Franchisees’ Choice designation for 14 consecutive years and has been certified as a Great Place to Work® for 7 years in succession.

You don’t need any previous experience in baking. With our comprehensive training program and ongoing operational support, we welcome franchisees from all walks of life.

In addition, we have zero franchise fees for all new bakeries. Your success is COBS Bread’s success, and we do all we can to help, advise, and encourage you to join our family and start on the road to a new level of business achievement.

Strong Community Focus

Community involvement is a cornerstone of the COBS Bread brand.

We’re not just about making dough! Every day, our bakeries donate to hundreds of local schools, groups, and charities across Canada and support a range of health programs, events, community groups, and environmental initiatives.

In supporting local communities across Canada, all our franchisees participate in our End of Day Giving program, where all baked products are donated to local charities at the end of each day.

In 2023, our franchisees collectively donated over $70 million worth of baked goods to charities across the country. Each franchisee manages their own schedule, often supporting different charities nightly, including food banks, community groups, kitchens, and school meal programs.

Support and Training

We believe – in fact, we know! – anyone can become a successful franchisee, regardless of background or experience. Many of our franchisees have never baked a loaf of bread before joining us and that’s perfectly okay! Our comprehensive training program equips you with all the skills and knowledge you need to thrive.

The COBS Bread training program is structured into 16 detailed modules, spanning an average of 16 weeks of full-time commitment. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Baking and sales training in an actual bakery
  • Monitoring and managing business operations and finances
  • Campaign marketing
  • Local marketing and community involvement
  • Wage and cost control
  • Sales and production planning
  • People management and workplace relations

Our commitment to your success doesn’t end with the initial training. We offer ongoing workshops throughout the year on our online training platform. These workshops cover essential topics such as financial management, production scheduling, and staff development, ensuring you stay ahead in your business.

Proof of Success

“The most fulfilling part of being a COBS bakery operator is when you get there at 2 o’clock in the morning, and the bakery is cold, it’s dark – there’s nobody around. You fire up the ovens, you turn on the music. Your other bakers show up and you start baking. And then, by about 6 o’clock in the morning, you’ve got a whole wall of bread. It looks beautiful, the product is great and it’s just a great sense of accomplishment.”

- Terrell Thurston, COBS Bread Clair Marketplace

“I was at a career crossroads and looking for a new challenge when I discovered COBS Bread. With my previous background in customer service and retail, it felt like the right time to do something for myself. During my discovery day at a COBS location in Durham, I was impressed by their commitment to donating leftover products to local charities, which made it the perfect fit for me. I also appreciated their comprehensive training program and their ongoing support to franchisees, which made me feel confident and prepared to take on this new venture.”

- Megan Forbes, COBS Bread Brooklin

“I love connecting and collaborating with people. We have a network of such diverse individuals who bring so much expertise from their previous careers. It is also amazing to be a part of something that is loved by Canadians coast to coast.”
